Evolutionary Relationships

So, we know that all living things evolved from a single origin. But how do we determine which species are more closely related than others? The answer lies in the DNA nucleotide sequences and protein amino acid sequences. By comparing these sequences of different species, those with more similarities are more closely related (separated more recently) and those with less similarities are less closely related (separated longer ago).
