July 2005 marks the 10-year anniversary of the Srebrenica massacre where 8000 people were killed in the worst massacre in Europe since WWII. This film explores the theme of genocide and justice. In Srebrenica, 10 years after the massacre of 8000 people, the victims are sill being exhumed from mass graves and the process of identification is a slow and painstaking job. For the survivors, it is also the end of the hope that some of their missing family members might still be alive. After almost 50 years, one of the first people to be indicated for complicity in genocide after the fall of Srebrenica is the Serb general Radoslav Krstic in 2003. Hasan Nuhanovic was an eye witness of the massacre. He lost his parents and younger brother and still has no news of his family. Petko Petkovic is a Serb refugee who lives in a freezing old hotel without working bathrooms. He was thrown our of his village by Muslim forces in 1993. He does not believe in reconciliation and considers the proclaimed war criminals Radovan Karadzic and Ratko Vladic 'heroes of the people'. Serbs still remember the 500 years of Turkish rule and they do not accept the blame for the war atrocities. Dewey: Dewey: 949.742 SRE.
