The drive to reduce greenhouse gas emissions means that many governments are trying to decarbonise electricity generation. But some renewables only generate electricity when conditions are right, they are also very location dependent and can often face opposition from local residents. From wind, to solar, biomass, HEP, Tidal, and Geothermal power - as well as explaining how different renewables are used to generate electricity, this programme examines the pros and cons of each energy source. It will encourage students to consider whether 100% renewable electricity is realistic.
