The Book Club S2012 • E02 Nineteen Eighty-Four (1984) By George Orwell : Critical Analysis

The Book Club is joined by very special guests Germaine Greer and Glen Duncan to discuss and analyse Nineteen Eighty-Four by George Orwell. Under the ever present gaze of Big Brother beamed on telescreens throughout Oceana, Winston Smith, a member of the Outer Party, works at the Ministry of Truth correcting historical records. Winston is outwardly loyal to the totalitarian regime, but he is secretly keeping a diary outlining his disillusion with the party. When he meets and falls in love with a co-worker Julia, Winston's thoughtcrime is exposed.
