Rivers are a vital part of our environment. Looking after them and making sure they stay healthy is everyone’s responsibility. People in Mildura, Victoria and Gol Gol, NSW are separated by the Murray. Everyone here is aware of how important the river is to their communities. Primary school children are among many groups who play an active role in the ongoing monitoring and improvement of the Murray’s health. This program joins students from two primary schools in a hands-on learning experience on the Murray. We look at a range of monitoring and environmental assessment techniques, as well as practical rehabilitation activities like re-vegetating and bollard construction.
