Egypt's Lost City: Armana

This programme looks at the lost Egyptian city of Armana built by King Akhenaten. Once the capital of the Egyptian Empire, it was abandoned more than 3,300 years ago. The city's fate was linked to that of one of Egypt s most controversial pharaohs, King Akhenaten, his beautiful queen, Nefertiti, and his son Tutankhamen. This documentary tells the story of how Tutankhamen became embroiled in the collapse of his fathers attempt to build a Utopia, and in the fierce religious turmoil between ancient paganism and the birth of monotheism represented by the sun god Atum - one of the greatest upheavals in Ancient Egypt s 3,000-year history.
