One night the moon, based on a tragedy which occurred in 1932, tells of the search for a small white girl who wanders off one night from the familys remote home to follow the full moon. Her father wont allow the black tracker Albert on his land or let him participate in the search, instead fruitlessly leading a band of white men across desolate country. The story is based on that of Aboriginal tracker Riley who was awarded the Kings Medal for his services to the police force. In 1997, his grandson, Michael Riley, made the documentary Black tracker about him.
