Berlin Wall: After the end of the Second World War, the two halves of the German capital were split between the Allies and the USSR. The United States of America, Britain and France took the West; and the Soviet Union the East, imposing communism on and tight military control over East Berlin. Over two days, November 9-10 1989, history was made when the wall that separated East and West Berlin since 1961 was destroyed, reuniting families and unifying the city. Concorde: Cruising at twice the speed of sound, it cut the transatlantic flight time by half. For the one hundred passengers boarding the Concorde in Paris on July 25, 2000, this was a long-awaited day. Tragically, the aircraft didn't even begin to make its destination, crashing shortly after takeoff, killing all on board. In its twenty-five years, the Concorde had never crashed, however, due to this once incident, its reputation for safety had gone from best, to worst. Dewey: 909.82 WHE.
