The poignant coming-of-age story of a precocious and outspoken young Iranian girl that begins during the Islamic Revolution. The story follows Marjane as she outsmarts the 'social guardians' and discovers punk, ABBA and Iron Maiden, while living with the terror of government persecution and the Iran/Iraq war.
